ATM scams - Skimmers
Skimming is the newest ATM scam. The fraudster places a 'skimmer' or a small device over the card slot, which records the magnetic strip as your card passes through. A small camera is mounted to the ATM to record your PIN as it is entered. Once the data is collected it's then used on a blank card to encode the information from your ATM card and create a counterfeit. You won’t know you’ve been scammed because your ATM card hasn’t been stolen and still works at other machines.
Tip: Be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary at the ATM, such as odd-looking equipment or wires. Monitor accounts regularly for unusual activity.

If you’ve been scammed, contact the financial institution and the Federal Trade Commission at www.ftc.gov
